Trainings and Conferences
SDgreen provides professional training and keynote capabilities for conferences and seminars in most areas of sustainable design and advocacy. With knowledge based on real world experience and in-depth research, SDgreen shares its passion for spreading the environmental message.
Sustainability Assessment
Sustainability assessments can involve simple analysis of a single building to optimize its operations, to the LEED design of a corporate headquarters, all the way through large corporate organizations desiring to move toward a more responsible, greener future. Whatever the size of your project or business, SD Green can assess your project’s strengths, assets, and problem areas toward better operation or design, and reduced operational costs.
Solar Energy
SDgreen possesses the expertise to promote, analyze and design various forms of renewable energy systems such as photovoltaic and solar thermal systems.
LEED™ Services
All aspects of LEED administration services are provided by SDgreen. This “one stop” capacity ensures that LEED portions of the project are designed, administered and documented for certification.
Integrated Design
The SDgreen integrated design approach encourages all members of a design team – architects, engineers, contractors and owners – to take a definitive role in the development of energy strategies, resulting in the individual parts of a building functioning as an interactive whole.
Energy Audits
For existing buildings to perform at maximum potential, SDgreen conducts energy audits whereby building systems (envelope, HVAC, lighting, etc.) are analyzed and assessed. The result is a detailed report on options for “tuning up” a building, and, if elected, implementation of suggested modifications. SDgreen provides project management to assist in making the energy efficiency measures a reality.
Green Building Charrettes
This type of facilitated workshop focuses on a project’s sustainability potential, and includes the design team with all disciplines represented. Usually taking place during pre-design, this approach has been shown to produce innovative solutions and more efficient, durable buildings, because the team has shared ideas and developed rapport early in the project.
Energy Code Compliance
As a minimum, buildings comply with all local energy code requirements; SDgreen strives toward measures that economically and feasibly exceed the code to provide greater economic and usability paybacks for owner and occupants.
Energy Modeling
The use of energy modeling tools allows SDgreen to make decisions regarding envelope performance, lighting systems, HVAC systems, building orientation and other key building elements that contribute to energy efficiency.
Earthcraft House and Multifamily
EarthCraft House is a residential green building rating system developed by the Metro Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Southface Energy Institute of Atlanta, Georgia. In 2004, the National Association of Home Builders recognized EarthCraft House with its Green Building Program of the Year Award.
Daylighting Design
Lighting can account for 30% of an office building’s electricity use and up to 40% for institutional buildings. Daylighting design a building offers benefits such as lower costs, enhanced occupant health, comfort and worker performance. Visit the daylit spaces of the SDA/SDgreen offices in Atlanta to discover the benefits of daylighting design.
Alternative Green Building Systems
In projects or buildings where systems such as LEED or Earthcraft are not engaged, SDgreen can suggest energy systems, green building materials and construction practices that will produce the best building possible within budget.
Water Conservation
The Southeast region faces serious water issues due to growth, water scarcity and prolonged drought. SDgreen actively seeks to reduce water consumption by use of high efficiency plumbing fixtures, emphasis on rainwater detention, graywater systems and building site placement to protect watersheds.
