The new Oakland Cemetery Visitors Center will be its embassy “outside the gates,” providing space for events as well as enhanced educational and public programming to increase access to and awareness of the historic cemetery.

Historic Oakland Foundation will redevelop the property outside Oakland’s west gate into a new event space, offices, and gift shop, as well as an outdoor plaza and flexible greenspace, better integrating the foundation into the surrounding community. The new building and grounds will connect the cemetery to the Memorial Drive Greenway and serve as a welcoming front door to Oakland Cemetery.
