Trees Atlanta Kendeda Center

Atlanta, GA

Central to the environmental future of Metro Atlanta, this high-profile non-profit organization built a LEED-Platinum home in Atlanta’s Reynoldstown neighborhood, unexpectedly becoming a sought-after event venue in the process.

SDA adapted this existing concrete block warehouse into a creative multi-use center.  The site fully integrates the outdoors, urban tree preservation, and offices.  An Education Center and large conference room operate separately from more back-of-house tree planting operations.  Staff support areas include bike racks, a shower to encourage commuters, and a catering kitchen.

Sustainable highlights include a geothermal heat pump system, solar thermal water heating system, rainwater collection system, low-e windows, maximized vegetative space, reflective hardscape, Energy Star roof, and green roof.
